Indigenous land management is the practice of traditional land stewardship and conservation techniques used by indigenous communities around the world. These practices are informed by generations of knowledge and experience, and often involve sustainable agricultural practices, controlled burns, selective harvesting, and protection of sacred sites. Indigenous land management not only helps to preserve biodiversity and ecosystems, but also supports cultural identity and strengthens community resilience. This research area seeks to understand and document traditional land management practices, and explore how these practices can be integrated with modern conservation strategies to address pressing environmental challenges such as climate change and loss of biodiversity.
